Third plate printed with two colours graduated one into the other – one more to go

After the first flat yellow colour established the print and the second graduated yellow to orange-red tont creates the setting sun, the next action makes a dramatic difference to the print. It looks almost as though there is an step missing – there isn't. The third and fourth colours, orange and red, applied as a subtly changing layer from one colour to the next brings the image into focus. Bold flowing firey clouds over the bright sky and rolling horizon of the Dales in yorkshire. A pure red was worked by hand into the colour on this plate to add subtle contours and enhance the rich glow of this art.
