York Minster harvest (Begun)

While painting is not well represented (at this time) on this website, Lynne is committed to developing her paint skills and illustrated here is one of her recent painting exercises (in-progress).

In-progress landscape painting showing York Minster in the distance, towering over the rich arable land surrounding the city.

For some time now, Lynne Roebuck, fine artist has produced paintings entirely as preliminary studies for her prints. Perhaps because she spent many years painting as an illustrator — printmaking has been 'another eye' through which to look. Her approach when she worked as an illustrator was very precise because this was required by her clients. The artist has spent many years since trying to unlearn this 'realist' style in order to produce freer, more impressionistic work, and unlearning well developed habits is a very great challenge. Above is a painting (in-progress) Lynne has wanted to produce for many years having grown-up in the rural Vale Of York.

This painting will be progressed further and if successful, could be followed by many more views of the City Of York in the Vale Of York.
