All three selected in 2011

All three landscape/seascape original prints submitted were on show at Ferens in 2011.

Lynne Roebuck was in the 10 percent of artists on show in the Hull 2011 Open who had all three of their entry accepted. There were 359 artists on show this year, approximately 53% of the total number who submitted art. Just 31 of the 533 items in the exhibition this year were original prints, including Lynnes three block prints.

More prints.

Two prints were on show in the exhibition at the beginning of 2010. The prints were "The Mighty Oak" (Exhibit No 117 - sold) and "Dark Water Clash" (Exhibit No 356).

Both have qualities which do not come across on the internet, so Lynne is pleased the prints themselves were on view at this prestigious public art gallery.

The exhibition was split over different gallery rooms to previous years layouts. Exhibit numbers 1 to 179 were in gallery room 4 to the left of the café, while the remainder were in the usual gallery rooms 8 and 9 to the right of the café.

Other prints in the above two editions are still available at other locations at this time, though The Mighty Oak has proved very popular.

Open Exhibition 2009

Both limited edition original prints Lynne Roebuck submitted to Ferens Open '09 were selected for the show.

Ferens public art gallery, Hull, often receives around 1,500 artworks from artists, both professional and amateur, for its annual open exhibition. From these, approximately only 23% are selected for display. It is hardly surprising then, that very few artists have more than one artwork accepted. An artists works must demonstrate a great deal of merit against such fierce competition in order to get in at all.

In 2009s Open the printmaker was one of only 48 artists to have two artworks selected, out of 194 artists represented at the show. The two limited edition original prints put forward, accepted and shown in the exhibition were (Circled above): "Voyages" (Exhibit No: 233) and "Headland" (Exhibit No: 188 - sold).

Painting Selected 2008

2008 was the first time Lynne Roebuck submitted original art to Ferens Open.

Ferens Art Exhibition 2008

Above: An impressive display of artwork by both professional and amateur artists, along with Lynnes "Alight" original acrylic painting, at Ferens Art Gallery 2008, Hull, Yorkshire, UK.

The artist had concentrated on preparing work for the 2008 East Coast Open, a biannual exhibition coinciding with the Ferens Open. Her first collection of original prints was at the sketch stage at the time, so she had very little art available for a second submission, but felt the experience would be valuable. It was therefore, especially pleasing to have a painting accepted at this prestigious and competitive show.
